Ms. Benoit, the founder of The Keep, spent six years working with homeless parents teaching them how to parent through the lens of trauma. Some of the parents she worked with had their children in CPS care. Most of the parents she trained won back custody of their children. She also trained kinship foster parents with ACH Child and Family Services of Ft. Worth. Throughout this time she saw the need for trauma informed parenting. She also has worked with teachers and counselors helping them to understand how to identify a child with a trauma past and then how to interact with that child to bring about behavioral changes.
The Keep is a non-profit organization dedicated to education about trauma. We work with Title I schools and homeless shelters to train their staff how to help their residents and students who have experienced developmental trauma. We also work directly with residents in homeless shelters.
Thank you, Sara! It was very insightful to sit in on your training. Thank you! I hope your move is smooth. Thanks for all you’ve done for families at ACH! You are an exceptional teacher and your passion is palpable.
Warmly,
Kim
